Day 7

Day 7 would end at Wendover. I drove there and parked in a side road. I walked through the town and once out the other side, started thumbing. After about 10 minutes someone stopped who just gave me lift of a couple of miles until he turned off. I carried on walking and thumbing for another couple of miles until someone else stopped, who again went out of his way to drop me near Princes Risborough. I started walking and thumbing again for a mile or so until I stopped to have some sandwiches. I carried on thumbing until a local builder stopped and gave me a lift to Chinnor. I walked up the hill to the Ridgeway and started the next section.

Lunch today was on top of ? where I watched a pair of red kites. Just south of Princes Risborough I met a man who was out walking. I asked him if he was walking the Ridgeway but he said that he had done that before and would probably do it again in May. I asked him how he would do it and he said that he would take the week off and camp near Oxford and use that as a base and commute each day.

After leaving Princes Risborough the footpath went through the Chequers estate and up to Coombe Hill before dropping down into Wendover. I rewarded myself with tea and cake sitting outside a shop in the high street before walking back to my car.
